Nature's Best Eggs
Hard to forget my visit to meet Graeme and his team - it’s a very, very long way from Singapore, tucked in a tiny village about 2 hours out of Wellington. Graeme is an amazing guy and has been pioneering in NZ in the most animal friendly way of producing superb quality eggs.
Henergy cage-free egg farm, located in the Wairarapa region in New Zealand, is the home of Nature's Best barn eggs. Graeme Henergy, founder and owner of Henergy cage-free egg farm, started as a sheep farmer in Wairarapa.
The small family business went from farming sheep to eggs. He designed a cage-free barn environment so the chickens can have the freedom to move within the huge barns, express their feelings and consistently produce high quality eggs. Graeme stands strongly behind the brand and is committed to provide cage-free solutions for consumers who want ethical, natural and nutritional eggs.
Nature’s Best let chickens be chickens. These birds live in a stress free barn and have plenty of places to curl up, socialise, stretch their wings, litter to scratch, dust to bathe in, water to drink and nutritious food to eat.
High nutrient multigrain feed formulated for the farm includes a mixture of locally grown grains with added protein and calcium to assist in building stronger healthier hens. Happy healthy hens mean better eggs. All eggs are collected daily and immediately stored in refrigerated units. The Henergy cage-free farm is the only egg producer using this process that protects freshness through the handling stage and provides superior egg quality and shelf life.
All eggs are 100% natural, wholesome, unadulterated.
In 1999, SPCA (New Zealand) awarded the farm as the first egg producer in New Zealand with the coveted SPCA Blue Tick. The farm was also awarded the prestigious Good Egg Award, from the international organisation, Compassion in World Farming, for our commitment to use cage-free eggs. As part of their commitment to sustainability and a move towards environmentally friendly packaging, all eggs are packed in carbon neutral packaging.
Raglan Coconut Yoghurt, New Zealand
Meet your new best friend to do breakfast with! When Mr Coconut decided it was time to go dairy-free due to allergies, Mrs Coconut started experimenting with making coconut yoghurt in her kitchen. It took time to get it right (and lots of taste-testing on Mr Coconut’s part!) but soon breakfast became their favourite part of the day.
Locals started asking if they could have some too. The crew of coconut lovers grew and grew. Before you could say coconut-yoghurt-is-the-best-
Black Cow Deluxe Cheddar Cheese, West Dorset, England
Situated on England’s West Dorset coast Black Cow Deluxe Cheddar, originating from West Dorset, England, is a unique cheese made from the same milk that is used to make Black Cow Pure Milk Vodka which we also stock. The cheese is a pale yellow, mature, farmhouse cheddar encapsulated in a layer of black wax. The smooth texture and occasional crystal crunch give way to the perfectly mature, sweet, nutty flavour of this exceptional Dorset cheese.
I had a fantastic trip down to Melbourne in early 2015 where I had the pleasure of meeting up with the Meredith team and hearing first hand all about their farm. Meredith Dairy is a seriously impressive enterprise, where they have made it their mission to provide quality-minded customers with reasonably priced, excellent sheep and goat milk products.
