Toh Thye San Chicken

Our beautiful French ‘poulet chicken’ is supplied to us by third-generation farmer Kenny whose family owns and runs the best chicken farm in the region just over the border to the north of Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

I have had the pleasure of working with Kenny for many years and was amazed when I visited the farm for the first time, to see that the chickens were so relaxed and friendly. Within minutes they were all around me, pecking at my wellington boots and chirping away.

It was lovely to see them so happy and relaxed, truly comfortable in their environment and a far cry from some of the shocking caged chickens we have all seen images of.

Every day, the farm flies in day-old chicks straight from Sabres, France, to be reared as breeders at the farm. Eggs produced by the first generation in-house breeders are handpicked to be hatched, to ensure the optimal quality of hatchlings.

The chicks are housed comfortably in sheds equipped with warmers to protect their immunity system. They are kept separate from the older chicks as they have different “housing” needs. Their litter is also regularly changed to prevent the build-up of ammonia, which damages their health and eyesight.

For the first ten days of their development, TTS feed the chicks a special in-house formulation of pre-starter feed, consisting of a nutritious blend of milk, natural amino acids, corn and soy.

After they have grown, the chickens are allowed to roam freely in spacious pens with plenty of natural light and elevated perches. TTS staff enter the farm daily to clean the area and encourage movement within the flock.

No growth promoters or antibiotics are administered on the chickens. Toh Thye San Farms is the first in Asia to achieve certified Humane by Humane Farm Animal Care (HFAC).

Grown naturally and raised in a clean, healthy and spacious environment with free access to clean water and fresh air ensures that the chickens are healthy and fit, meaning a leaner, more flavourful chicken for you and your family.

BluCurrent Fish

Leading aquaculture company Wintershine's fresh fish brand BluCurrent is an incredibly tasty local fish that is both great quality and sustainable.

This farm produces sustainably sea-farmed fish by using holding tanks on floating platforms in the ocean. BluCurrent fish are raised on Singapore's first-ever smart floating fish farm, located off Pasir Ris Coast.

Artificial intelligence and video analytics to monitor fish health, self-cleaning tanks, oxygen and feed on demand, closed loop recycling, and more...this smart system underscores the key role technology can play in enabling sustainable food production to scale efficiently.

Water quality is monitored and water is naturally filtered, treated and oxygenated, ensuring well-defined conditions for stress-free growth. To further increase its environmental friendliness, the fish farm also relies on solar power for at least half of its operations.

The fish are Friends of the Sea certified which means the farm is prohibited from using any growth hormones and must respect the waters ecosystem and critical habitats. 

With all the debates surrounding the health of the ocean, this is a remarkable solution that will greatly ease the pressure on our overfished and increasingly polluted oceans.

The AI also recognises anomalous swim patterns, enabling the early detection of diseases and even when the fish are hungry, allowing employees to determine optimum feeding rates.

Because the fish are grown using closed-loop farming practices, they are better-tasting and rich in protein.

BluCurrent Barramundi and Red Snapper are preferred by top chefs and Michelin-starred restaurants in Singapore; without a doubt the best and freshest locally produced fish you will find in Singapore.

HICJUICE was born in December 2013, with the aim of making premium raw, cold pressed juices available and accessible to everyone in Singapore. Local Bakery & Pantry 

Baking may just be the bread for your breakfast, but for the Simply Bread bakers it is their passion. Whether it is one of the tricky sourdough breads or the bold, rustic white, the Simply Bread bakers know their craft requires skills and instincts honed by time and dedication.

The thud-thud of an old-fashioned oblique arm mixer stands next to a modern state-of-the-art dough-dividing and handling system. There is no secret ingredient, just an understanding that the flour, water, yeast and salt together with the bakers will become their prized loaves of bread.  

Oh My Goodness! is a small company with a big vision. This big vision involves their delightful and extremely delicious “free from” range being available without the heavy price tag.

Ramya began her baking journey at just 16, where she discovered her heart lies in the kitchen. At the age of 30, health issues led her down the “you are what you eat path”. Soon she was unable to eat wheat and dairy so Ramya’s baking journey took a new turn. All the cakes and bread are high in protein and fibre from the wide variety of nuts and fruit used. Róa is a Singapore-based artisanal patisserie that has taken the simple, honest chocolate cake and completely revolutionised it into their signature Midnight Cake, which is vegan, gluten free and allergen friendly.
